How was your personal experience at Algonquin College School of Business?
I had many great experiences at Algonquin College; the teachers were knowledgeable, approachable and most of all helpful. I met a great group of friends in my program and more importantly study partners!
What company do you work for and what is your job position?
I am the Marketing and Communications Intern for DA-Integrated, a microelectronics company in Stittsville. It’s an 18 month internship.
What sort of tasks does your job require you to do?
The projects and tasks I perform at DA-Integrated include keeping our CRM database and contact database up to date and organized, I search for and research new customers to add to our sales funnel, I ensure DA-Integrated maintains a consistent brand image in all our promotional materials such as brochures, press releases, power point slides, website and mass mail outs. I attend weekly sales meeting and each month I update metrics relating to our sales funnel calculating the success of our marketing efforts. I also have a background in photography so I get to take pictures for our branded materials.
How did you find and get the job?
Scott Bulbrook, Co-founder and the Vice President of Engineering found me using LinkedIn. Having a strong LinkedIn page promotes the chances to be found by employers. Keep it up to date and keep it professional.
Do you have any words of wisdom for current/prospective students?
Keep an open mind. I never thought I would end up in the high tech industry, you never know where opportunities will take you.
